Bepo Stambuk is a likeable tour guide and enterprising ladies' man on the charming island of Brac, off the coast of Croatia. Bepo's happy life revolves around two reciprocal relationships: his love of his island and his adoration of women. However, Bepo's easygoing routine life is about to be seriously interrupted. Back in the U.S., his father, a émigré he has never met, has died and left him a fortune. He has also left a very young, very greedy, and very adulterous widow. She has no intention of handing Bepo the money and dispatches hitmen to find and eliminate him. Also on her way to Brac is Elizabeth, the beautiful young attorney assigned to award Bepo the money. Not surprisingly, Elizabeth brings her own agenda and is eager to find the lucky heir for less than legal reasons.
This movie has -in a good way- the low-budget charm of a high school movie, using slightly sub-par film quality, seemingly local actors, and no special effects.<br/><br/>There's a lot of humor, and the movie doesn't take itself seriously - fitting well with the immature attitude of the main protagonist. After seeing the movie halfway and falling asleep (I typically watch a few movies in bed), I caught myself wanting to see the end the next day - and I was pleased I did. Except from Angelica Bridges (Baywatch) in a support role, I didn't recognize any actor - although lead actor Goran Visnjic has later, apparently, played in such movies'Elektra' and 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.<br/><br/>The story is nice and the sometimes irrelevant subplots don't bore, although the ending seemed a bit rushed and predictable.<br/><br/>If you like 'Le gendarme de Saint-Tropez' style movies, you may like this too.
I watched this top one percent movie in a cinema tonight. This nice movie has got all necessary features that are required:nice humor, dinamic action, nice and beautiful girls. You will have an excellent time from the beginning till the very end of this movie. What is very important for non-Croatian viewers, is the fact that You are dealing with typical Croatian humor of the Dalmatian-Adriatic coast.
